    We’re Mary and Charlotte — two busy mums, full-time workers, and best friends who somehow found a way to turn a shared passion into something truly special. Between our four kids (who are best friends themselves!) and hectic schedules, we juggle it all — and somehow, we make magic happen.

    Our youngest have been friends since birth, and over the years, our husbands have become close too. We’ve enjoyed holidays together, shared countless laughs, and supported each other through the chaos and calm. While Mary’s the creative whirlwind who thrives in joyful chaos, Charlotte is the organised planner who keeps the wheels turning. Opposites in personality, but perfectly aligned in values — we love working together and learning from each other every day.

    Mary’s journey began when her son was diagnosed with Coeliac disease. Determined to create gluten-free bakes that don’t compromise on taste or texture, she poured her heart into recipe testing and perfected treats that even non-gluten-free eaters love. Charlotte joined soon after, bringing her creative flair and organisational skills — from designing the brand to building the website and managing the growing business alongside her own full-time job.

    Together, we’ve built Marybakes Gluten Free from a tiny kitchen into a thriving home-based bakery filled with laughter, friendship, and the occasional stray sock or curious child. Our mission is simple: to make gluten-free bakes that are delicious, joyful, and full of love.

    Hi, I’m Mary – the baker, dreamer, and chaos-thriver behind Marybakes Gluten Free. The journey began unexpectedly when my son was diagnosed with Coeliac disease. Like many, we had no idea what that meant or how to adapt to a gluten free lifestyle. Very quickly, I realised how limited and disappointing gluten free food could be – and as a keen home baker, I thought, “Surely I can do better than this!”
    Armed with my "how hard can it really be?" attitude, I threw myself into the world of gluten free baking. Spoiler alert: it was *much* harder than I expected! But after many failed attempts, hours of research, recipe testing (and more taste tests than my friends and family probably wanted!), I started developing bakes I was genuinely proud of – including the holy grail: a gluten free doughnut.
    What started in my tiny kitchen soon grew into a small business. I completed all the relevant food safety training, earned a 5-star hygiene rating from the council, and launched Marybakes Gluten Free from home.

    A few months in, my best friend Charlotte joined the madness and brought her organisational skills to the table – freeing me up to focus on recipe creation (and messy baking experiments!).
    Our kitchen is now a fully gluten free, home-based bakery filled with laughter, creativity, and the occasional stray child or sock-obsessed French bulldog. We’re passionate about creating gluten free bakes that taste just as good as the real thing – if not better. Texture, flavour, and fun are at the heart of everything we make.

    Hey there! I'm Charlotte, the creative side of Marybakes Gluten Free. My journey into the gluten-free baking world started with helping out my best friend Mary, who I've known for over eight years. It all began with me designing the logo and Instagram icons, combining my love for arts and crafts with her passion for baking.

    As I got more involved, what started as a small favor turned into a full-blown partnership. Building our website from scratch was a challenge since I had never done anything like it before, but it’s been so rewarding. Watching Mary’s baking skills grow has been amazing, and teaming up with her just felt right. With her talent in the kitchen and my attention to detail, we make a great team.

    We both juggle full-time jobs and I have two kids, so balancing this 'side hustle' has been a bit mental, but totally worth it! As someone who eats gluten, I can honestly say our gluten-free bakes are just as good, if not better. I especially love our cookies—they’re my absolute favourite!
